Book Recommendation: "The Duggars: 20 and counting"

I recently read the book, "The Duggars: 20 and Counting" after my sister recommended it.

Here is one of my favorite of their ideas regarding teaching self control:
Place a toddler on a blanket with a few toys and tell the toddler to sit and play. If the toddler crawls off, place her back on and give her a toy until she catches on to what she is supposed to do. Start with only a few minutes and then build up slowly to 15 minutes or more depending on the child's age.  The goal of this "blanket time" is to teach the child patience and self control.

Suggestions regarding Potty Training:
* wait until the child can pull his/her pants and put them back on by themselves
* must be able to climb the big potty
* summertime is the best time to train since there aren't as many clothes to deal with
* weave character into potty training

Suggestions for Family Goals:
* Always use soft words, even when you don't feel well.
* Always display kind actions, even if you have been mistreated.
* Show joyful attitudes when no one is looking.
* Have sincere motives with no thought of self-gain
* Think pure thoughts.
* Always give a good report of others.  Never tale-bear unless physical harm will come to someone.  Use Matt 18.
* Never raise a hand to lie.
* Never raise a foot to kick.
* Never raise an object to throw.
* Never raise a voice to yell.
* Never raise an eye to scowl.
* Use one toy/activity at a time.
* Never let the sun go down on your wrath. (Don't go to bed angry or guilty.)
* Amendment J.O.Y. Put Jesus first, Others second, Yourself last.  Make serving your family a priority.

Suggestions for Pajama Wearing
* Neatly fold your pajamas.
* Neatly place them in your drawre.  Be sure to close the drawer when you are finished.
* After wearing them for three nights, place them in the dirty-laundry basket.
