I love this activity! What an inexpensive activity for little hands! Give the child ping pong balls to put in a mini-muffin tray.
I expanded the idea to include numbers on the balls. I decided to do this for a number of reasons: 1.) Practically: now I'll know which ball is missing when they go MIA 2.) Physically: The child can use his fine motor skills to turn the balls around to see the numbers on each one 3.) Educationally: It provides a teachable moment to count.
If I had thought about it, I would have put the odd numbers in blue and the even numbers in red, to provide another expansion on these materials. But, that's for another time.
